British Museum supports arts and cultural district on Saadiyat Island


Sheikh Zayed Museum to receive exhibits from the British Museum on loan

The British Museum in London is making various exhibitions available to the cultural district of Saadiyat Island according to the London magazine "Building".  In total, the agreement between the British Museum and Abu Dhabi provides for a loan period of ten years.

The exhibits are to be displayed in the Sheikh Zayed Museum, which has been designed by the British architectural firm of "Foster + Partners". The undisclosed fee for the loan of the exhibition will most likely benefit the British Museum extension, which is expected to cost about 130 million British pounds according to experts’ estimates.

Future cooperation partners of the arts and cultural space on Saadiyat Island include the Louvre in Paris and the Guggenheim Museum in New York. In addition to "Foster + Partners", renowned architects such as Tadao Ando (Ocean Museum), Frank Gehry (Guggenheim Abu Dhabi), Zaha Hadid (Saadiyat’s Performing Arts Centre) and Jean Nouvel (Classical Arts Museum) have played a part in designing the cultural district.

The launch of Saadiyat island`s news website and to accompany this launch with various subjects all around the areas of Lifestyle and luxury represents a welcome challenge to us. Especially as Abu Dhabis` development has just begun we will get the chance to observe the rise of this ambitious plan of a new and highly significant cultural destination in the next years and further(more) possibly help forming it a little even virtually. As a matter of course this will happen within the world wide web`s possibilities but at a later stage also beyond it.
