Abu Dhabi with its own pavilion in Venice

Abu Dhabi with its own pavilion in Venice
Abu Dhabi focuses on cultural highlights with a national pavilion at the Biennale di Venezia

To emphasise its reputation as the new cultural capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi will be represented at the “Biennale di Venezia” from June with its own national pavilion and a special representation. The international art fair that has been held biennially since 1895 offers 28 countries an opportunity to present themselves with pavilions representative of their country or with a special interest exhibition.

In addition to its commitment to Venice, the cultural city of Abu Dhabi continues to place a high value on promoting cultural facilities within the emirate. For example, in March 2009, the third “Art Dubai” art fair opened and, at the same time, the ninth “Sharjah Biennale” in the neighbouring emirate, which focuses on regional artists and projects and, according to the head curator, Jack Persekian, is intended to improve their lives and effectiveness.

If nothing else, with the opening of four impressive museums on Saadiyat Island in 2012, the United Emirates are laying claim to being the future cultural centre of the Menasa region.

CURRENT COMMENT

Dear SAADIYATONLINE visitors,

it`s a real pleasure to be able to write to you today for the first time with our comment.

The launch of Saadiyat island`s news website and to accompany this launch with various subjects all around the areas of Lifestyle and luxury represents a welcome challenge to us. Especially as Abu Dhabis` development has just begun we will get the chance to observe the rise of this ambitious plan of a new and highly significant cultural destination in the next years and further(more) possibly help forming it a little even virtually. Thus we are going to develop this medium gradually and next to general news and information we will give space to different ways of modern communication. As a matter of course this will happen within the world wide web`s possibilities but at a later stage also beyond it.

Also we publish your comments with pleasure after checking them and further we welcome any kind of feedback.

Up to our next comment I remain with kind regards.

Yours,

Denis Lademann
