Golf legend Gary Player designs Saadiyat Golf Course

The South African professional golfer, Gary Player, will design the first 18-hole golf course in the United Arab Emirates on Saadiyat Island for completion by 2009, which will pose a special challenge with some holes directly on the beach. Through the use of natural materials, the golf course, which lies amidst beautiful natural surroundings, conforms perfectly with the ecological design of the ecological island of culture.

Lying at the heart of the Saadiyat Beach District, the Gary Player Course is already being viewed as a future candidate for hosting the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship. In addition, the course will be available to certain club members and guests of the adjacent luxury hotel.

As a “Grand Slam“ winner and several times winner of major tournaments, the South African golf professional considers it an honour to play a significant part in the creation of the golf course. According to Gary Player, the Saadiyat Beach Golf Course will doubtless become one of the leading golf courses worldwide.
