French art on the “Island of Happiness“

Covering an area of 24,000 qm, the Louvre Abu Dhabi will have been completed on Saadiyat Island by 2012. The exceptional museum will be implemented by the top architect, Jean Nouvel, following the conclusion of a 30-year contract between the French and Abu Dhabi governments.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi will focus on classical art with loans from various French museums, such as the Louvre Paris or the Centre Georges Pompidou. In addition to temporary exhibits and international art conferences, there will also be an entire floor dedicated to the deceased Sheikh and founder of the United Arab Emirates.

A further element of this remarkable cooperation will be the construction of the research and education centre, Abu Dhabi Centre, as well as the restoration of the Château de Fontainebleau in France.
